Au chef musicien, Un Psaume de David, lorsque Nathan le prophète vint à lui, après que David était allé vers Bath-sheba.

 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

1 Aie miséricorde envers moi, ô Dieu, selon ta tendre compassion: selon la multitude de tes tendres miséricordes efface mes transgressions.

 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Nettoie-moi complètement de mon iniquité, et épure-moi de mon péché.

 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 Car je reconnais mes transgressions: et mon péché est toujours devant moi.

 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4 Contre toi, toi seulement, ai-je péché, et fait ce mal à ta vue: afin que tu puisses être justifié lorsque tu parles, et être objectif lorsque tu juges.

 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5 Voici, je fus formé dans l’iniquité; et dans le péché ma mère me conçut.

 5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Voici, tu désires la vérité dans les fors intérieurs: et dans la partie cachée tu me feras connaître la sagesse.

 6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge-moi avec de l’hysope, et je serai net: nettoie-moi, et je serai plus blanc que neige.

 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Fais-moi entendre la joie et l’exultation; afin que les os que tu as brisés puissent se réjouir.

 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Détourne ta face de mes péchés, et efface toutes mes iniquités.

 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Crée en moi un cœur net, ô Dieu; et renouvelle un esprit droit en moi.

 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Ne me rejette pas hors de ta présence; et ne m’ôte pas ton esprit saint.

 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restaure en moi la joie de ton salut; et soutiens-moi avec ton esprit de liberté.

 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Alors j’enseignerai aux transgresseurs tes chemins; et les pécheurs seront convertis à toi.

 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Délivre-moi de ma culpabilité sanglante, ô Dieu, toi Dieu de mon salut: et ma langue chantera à haute voix ta droiture.

 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 Ô Seigneur, ouvre mes lèvres; et ma bouche déclarera ta louange.

 15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 Car tu ne désires pas de sacrifice; autrement j’en donnerais: tu ne te délectes pas dans l’offrande consumée.

 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 Les sacrifices de Dieu sont un esprit brisé: un cœur brisé et contrit ô Dieu, tu ne mépriseras pas.

 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Fais du bien selon ton bon plaisir à Sion: bâtis les murailles de Jérusalem.

 18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Alors tu prendras plaisir aux sacrifices de droiture, à l’offrande consumée et à l’offrande consumée entièrement: alors ils offriront des bouvillons sur ton autel.

 19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
