Au chef musicien sur Neginoth, Maschil, Un Psaume de David.

 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David.

1 Prête l’oreille à ma prière, ô Dieu; et ne te cache pas de ma supplication.

 1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

2 Sois attentif, et entends-moi: je me déplore dans ma plainte, et gémis;

 2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

3 À cause de la voix de l’ennemi, à cause de l’oppression des hommes immoraux: car ils jettent l’iniquité sur moi, et courroucés ils me haïssent.

 3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

4 Mon cœur souffre terriblement en moi: et les terreurs de la mort sont tombées sur moi.

 4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

5 La crainte et le tremblement sont venus sur moi, et l’horreur m’a submergé.

 5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

6 Et je dis: Oh si j’avais des ailes comme une colombe! Car alors je m’envolerais et serais tranquille.

 6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

7 Voici, j’errerais au loin, et resterais dans le désert. Selah.

 7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

8 Je me hâterais de m’échapper du vent violent, et de la tempête.

 8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

9 Détruis-les, ô Seigneur, et dissocie leurs langues: car j’ai vu violence et querelles dans la ville.

 9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

10 Jour et nuit ils font le tour sur ses murailles: la malveillance aussi et la douleur sont au milieu d’elle.

 10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

11 L’immoralité est au milieu d’elle: la tromperie et la duplicité ne quittent pas ses rues.

 11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

12 Car ce ne fut pas un ennemi qui m’outragea; alors j’aurais pu le supporter: ce ne fut pas non plus celui qui me haïssait qui se magnifia contre moi; alors je me serais caché loin de lui:

 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

13 Mais c’était toi, un homme mon égal, mon guide, et mon accointance.

 13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

14 Nous échangions de doux conseils ensemble, et marchions à la maison de Dieu en compagnie.

 14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

15 Que la mort les saisisse, et qu’ils descendent vivants dans l’enfer: car l’immoralité est dans leurs demeures, et parmi eux.

 15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

16 Quant à moi, je ferai appel à Dieu; et le SEIGNEUR me sauvera.

 16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.

17 Soir, et matin, et à midi, je prierai et crierai fort: et il entendra ma voix.

 17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

18 Il a délivré mon âme en paix de la bataille qui était contre moi: car ils étaient nombreux avec moi.

 18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

19 Dieu entendra, et les affligera, c’est-à-dire lui qui demeure depuis les temps anciens. Selah. Parce qu’ils n’ont pas changé, par conséquent, ils ne craignent pas Dieu.

 19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

20 Il a étendu ses mains sur ceux qui sont en paix avec lui: il a violé son alliance.

 20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.

21 Les paroles de sa bouche étaient plus lisses que le beurre, mais la guerre était dans son cœur: ses paroles étaient plus douces que l’huile, cependant elles étaient des épées tirées.

 21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

22 Débarrasse-toi de ta charge sur le SEIGNEUR, et il te soutiendra: il ne permettra jamais que les hommes droits soient déplacés.

 22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

23 Mais toi, ô Dieu, tu les précipiteras dans la fosse de la destruction: les hommes sanguinaires et trompeurs ne vivront pas la moitié de leurs jours; mais je me confierai en toi.

 23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
