1 À l’ange de l’église d’Éphèse, écris; Celui qui tient les sept étoiles dans sa main droite, qui marche au milieu des sept chandeliers d’or dit ces choses:

 1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

2 Je connais tes œuvres, et ton labeur, et ta patience, et comment tu ne peux supporter ceux qui sont mauvais: et tu as éprouvé ceux qui se disent être apôtres, et ne le sont pas, et tu les as trouvés menteurs:

 2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

3 Et tu as supporté, et eu de la patience, et à cause de mon nom tu as besogné, et tu n’as pas défailli.

 3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Néanmoins j’ai quelque chose contre toi, parce que tu as délaissé ton premier amour.

 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

5 Souviens-toi donc d’où tu es tombée, et repens-toi, et fais les premières œuvres; sinon je viendrai rapidement à toi, et j’ôterai ton chandelier hors de sa place, à moins que tu ne te repentes.

 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

6 Mais tu as ceci, c’est que tu hais les actions des Nicolaïtes, lesquelles je hais aussi.

 6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

7 Que celui qui a une oreille, qu’il entende ce que l’Esprit dit aux églises: À celui qui l’emporte, je lui donnerai à manger de l’arbre de vie, qui est au milieu du paradis de Dieu.

 7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

8 Et à l’ange de l’église à Smyrne, écris; Ces choses dit le premier et le dernier, lequel était mort, et est vivant;

 8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

9 Je connais tes œuvres, et ta tribulation, et ta pauvreté (mais tu es riche) et je connais le blasphème de ceux qui disent qu’ils sont Juifs, et ne le sont pas, mais sont la synagogue de Satan.

 9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

10 Ne crains aucune des choses dont tu souffriras: voici, le diable jettera quelques-uns d’entre vous en prison, afin que vous soyez éprouvés; et vous aurez dix jours de tribulation: sois fidèle jusqu’à la mort, et je te donnerai une couronne de vie.

 10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

11 Que celui qui a une oreille, qu’il entende ce que l’Esprit dit aux églises: Celui qui l’emporte ne sera pas blessé par la seconde mort.

 11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

12 Et à l’ange de l’église à Pergame, écris; Ces choses dit celui qui a l’épée acérée avec deux tranchants;

 12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

13 Je connais tes œuvres, et où tu demeures, c’est-à-dire où le siège de Satan est: et tu tiens ferme mon nom, et tu n’as pas renié ma foi, même en ces jours où Antipas était mon fidèle martyr, qui a été tué parmi vous, où Satan demeure.

 13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

14 Mais j’ai plusieurs choses contre toi, parce que tu as là ceux qui maintiennent la doctrine de Balaam, qui enseigna à Balak de jeter une pierre d’achoppement devant les enfants d’Israël, pour qu’ils mangent des choses sacrifiées aux idoles, et qu’ils commettent la fornication.

 14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

15 De même tu as aussi ceux qui maintiennent la doctrine des Nicolaïtes, laquelle chose je hais.

 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

16 Repens-toi; sans quoi je viendrai à toi rapidement, et combattrai contre eux avec l’épée de ma bouche.

 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

17 Que celui qui a une oreille, qu’il entende ce que l’Esprit dit aux églises: À celui qui l’emporte je lui donnerai à manger de la manne cachée, et lui donnerai une pierre blanche, et sur la pierre un nouveau nom est écrit, lequel aucun homme ne connaît sauf celui qui le reçoit.

 17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

18 Et à l’ange de l’église à Thyatire, écris: Ces choses dit le Fils de Dieu, qui a ses yeux semblables à une flamme de feu, et ses pieds sont semblables à du beau cuivre;

 18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

19 Je connais tes œuvres, et ta charité, et ton service, et ta foi, et ta patience, et tes œuvres; et les dernières surpassent les premières.

 19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

20 Toutefois j’ai plusieurs choses contre toi, parce que tu laisses cette femme Jézabel, qui se dit être une prophétesse, enseigner et séduire mes serviteurs pour commettre fornication, et manger des choses sacrifiées aux idoles.

 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 Et je lui ai donné du temps pour se repentir de sa fornication; et elle ne s’est pas repentie.

 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Voici, je la jetterai sur un lit, et ceux qui commettent adultère avec elle dans une grande tribulation, à moins qu’ils ne se repentent de leurs actions.

 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

23 Et je tuerai ses enfants avec la mort; et toutes les églises sauront que je suis celui qui sonde les reins et les cœurs: et je donnerai à chacun de vous selon vos œuvres.

 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

24 Mais à vous je dis, et au reste à Thyatire, autant qu’il y en a qui n’ont pas cette doctrine, et qui n’ont pas connu les profondeurs de Satan, comme ils disent; je ne mettrai sur vous aucune autre charge.

 24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

25 Mais ce que vous avez déjà, tenez-le ferme, jusqu’à ce que je vienne.

 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

26 Et à celui qui l’emporte, et garde mes œuvres jusqu’à la fin, à lui je donnerai pouvoir sur les nations:

 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 Et il les dirigera avec un bâton de fer; comme les vases d’un potier ils seront brisés en éclats: comme j’ai reçu de mon Père.

 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

28 Et je lui donnerai l’étoile du matin.

 28 And I will give him the morning star.

29 Que celui qui a une oreille, qu’il entende ce que l’Esprit dit aux églises.

 29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
