1 Et je me tins debout sur le sable de la mer, et vis une bête s’élever de la mer, ayant sept têtes et dix cornes, et sur ses cornes dix couronnes, et sur ses têtes le nom de blasphème.

 1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2 Et la bête que je vis était semblable à un léopard, et ses pieds étaient comme les pieds d’un ours, et sa gueule comme la gueule d’un lion: et le dragon lui donna son pouvoir, et son siège, et une grande autorité.

 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3 Et je vis l’une de ses têtes comme si elle était blessée à mort; et sa blessure mortelle fut guérie: et tout le monde s’interrogea sur la bête.

 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

4 Et ils adorèrent le dragon qui avait donné pouvoir à la bête: et ils adorèrent la bête, disant: Qui est semblable à la bête? Qui est capable de faire la guerre contre elle?

 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

5 Et il lui fut donné une bouche disant de grandes choses et des blasphèmes; et le pouvoir lui fut donné de continuer durant quarante-deux mois.

 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

6 Et elle ouvrit sa bouche en blasphémant contre Dieu, pour blasphémer son nom, et son tabernacle, et ceux qui demeurent au ciel.

 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

7 Et il lui fut donné de faire la guerre aux saints, et de les vaincre: et le pouvoir lui fut donné sur toutes parentés, et langues, et nations.

 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

8 Et tous ceux qui demeurent sur la terre l’adoreront, ceux dont les noms ne sont pas écrits dans le livre de vie de l’Agneau tué depuis la fondation du monde.

 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 Si quelqu’un a une oreille, qu’il entende.

 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10 Celui qui mène en captivité ira en captivité: celui qui tue par l’épée doit être tué par l’épée. Voici la patience et la foi des saints.

 10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

11 Et je regardai une autre bête sortant de la terre; et elle avait deux cornes comme celles d’un agneau, et elle parlait comme un dragon.

 11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12 Et elle exerce tout le pouvoir de la première bête devant elle, et entraîne la terre et ceux qui y demeurent à adorer la première bête, dont la blessure mortelle était guérie.

 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13 Et elle fait de grands prodiges, de sorte qu’elle fait descendre le feu du ciel sur la terre à la vue des hommes,

 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 Et elle trompe ceux qui demeurent sur la terre au moyen de ces miracles qu’elle avait le pouvoir de faire à la vue de la bête; disant à ceux qui demeuraient sur la terre, qu’ils doivent faire une image à la bête, laquelle avait la blessure de l’ épée, et survécu.

 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

15 Et elle eut pouvoir de donner vie à l’image de la bête, pour que l’image de la bête puisse simultanément parler, et faire que tous ceux qui n’adoreraient pas l’image de la bête soient tués.

 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16 Et elle fait que tous, aussi bien petits que grands, riches et pauvres, libres et asservis, reçoivent une marque dans leur main droite, ou dans leurs fronts:

 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 Et qu’aucun homme ne puisse acheter ou vendre, sauf celui qui avait la marque ou le nom de la bête, ou le nombre de son nom.

 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Voici la sagesse. Laissez celui qui a de la compréhension compter le nombre de la bête: car c’est le nombre d’un homme; et son nombre est six cent soixante-six.

 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
