1 Paul, un serviteur de Jésus Christ, appelé à être un apôtre, séparé envers l’évangile de Dieu,

 1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

2 (Lequel il avait promis auparavant par ses prophètes dans les saintes écritures),

 2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

3 Concernant son Fils Jésus Christ notre Seigneur, qui a été fait de la semence de David selon la chair;

 3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

4 Et déclaré être le Fils de Dieu avec pouvoir, selon l’esprit de sainteté, par la résurrection d’entre les morts:

 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

5 Par lequel nous avons reçu grâce et apostolat, pour l'obéissance à la foi parmi toutes les nations, pour son nom:

 5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

6 Parmi lesquelles vous aussi êtes les appelés de Jésus Christ:

 6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

7 À tous ceux qui sont à Rome, bien-aimés de Dieu, appelés à être saints: Grâce pour vous et paix de la part de Dieu notre Père, et le Seigneur Jésus Christ.

 7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

8 Premièrement, je remercie mon Dieu par l’ intermédiaire de Jésus Christ pour vous tous, de ce que votre foi est renommée à travers le monde entier.

 8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

9 Car Dieu est mon témoin, lequel je sers avec mon esprit dans l’évangile de son Fils, que sans cesse je fais toujours mention de vous dans mes prières;

 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

10 Faisant requête, si enfin d’une quelconque manière par la volonté de Dieu je puisse effectuer un voyage prospère pour venir vers vous.

 10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

11 Car j’ai grande envie de vous voir, afin que je puisse vous communiquer quelque don spirituel, pour que vous puissiez être établis;

 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

12 C’est-à-dire que je puisse être réconforté ensemble avec vous par la foi mutuelle, et de vous et de moi.

 12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

13 Or je ne voudrais pas que vous ignoriez, frères, que je me suis souvent proposé de venir vers vous (mais ne le put jusqu’ici), afin que je puisse avoir quelque fruit parmi vous aussi, comme parmi les autres Gentils.

 13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

14 Je suis redevable aussi bien aux Grecs qu’aux Barbares; aussi bien aux sages, qu’aux imprudents.

 14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.

15 Alors, autant qu’il est en moi, je suis prêt à prêcher l’évangile aussi à vous qui êtes à Rome.

 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

16 Car je ne suis pas honteux de l’évangile de Christ: car c’est le pouvoir de Dieu au salut à tout homme qui croit; au Juif d’abord, et aussi au Grec.

 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17 Car en cela la droiture de Dieu est révélée de foi en foi: comme il est écrit, Le juste vivra par la foi.

 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

18 Car le courroux de Dieu est révélé depuis le ciel contre toute impiété et injustice des hommes, qui retiennent la vérité dans l’injustice;

 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Parce que ce qui peut être connu de Dieu est manifesté en eux; car Dieu le leur a montré.

 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 Car les choses invisibles venant de lui depuis la création du monde sont clairement vues, étant comprises par les choses qui sont faites, c’est-à-dire son pouvoir éternel et sa Déité; de sorte qu’ils sont sans excuse:

 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Parce que, lorsqu’ils connurent Dieu, ils ne le glorifièrent pas en tant que Dieu, ni ne furent reconnaissants; mais devinrent vains dans leurs imaginations, et leur cœur insensé fut obscurci.

 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professant être sages, ils devinrent insensés,

 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 Et changèrent la gloire du Dieu incorruptible en une image faite semblable à l’homme corruptible, et aux oiseaux, et aux quadrupèdes, et aux animaux rampants.

 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 C’est pourquoi aussi Dieu les abandonna à l’impureté par les convoitises de leurs propres cœurs, pour déshonorer leurs propres corps entre eux:

 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Eux qui changèrent la vérité de Dieu en un mensonge, et adorèrent et servirent la créature davantage que le Créateur, qui est béni pour toujours. Amen

 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 Pour ce motif Dieu les abandonna à de viles affections: car même leurs femmes ont changé l’usage naturel en ce qui est contre nature:

 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 Et de même aussi les hommes, délaissant l’usage naturel de la femme, s’embrasèrent dans leur convoitise l’un envers l’autre; hommes avec hommes faisant ce qui est indécent, et recevant en eux-mêmes cette récompense appropriée pour leur erreur.

 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 Et même comme ils n’estimèrent pas retenir Dieu dans leur connaissance, Dieu les abandonna à un cerveaue dépravé, pour faire ces choses qui ne sont pas convenables;

 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Étant remplis de toute injustice, fornication, immoralité, convoitise, malice; pleins d’envie, de meurtre, discussions, tromperie, malignité; chuchoteurs,

 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Médisants, haïssant Dieu, rancuniers, orgueilleux, vantards, inventeurs de choses mauvaises, désobéissants aux parents,

 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Sans compréhension, parjures, sans affection naturelle, implacables, impitoyables:

 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Qui connaissant le jugement de Dieu, que ceux qui commettent de telles choses méritent la mort, non seulement font de même, mais prennent plaisir en ceux qui les font.

 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
