1 Celui qui est faible dans la foi recevez-le, mais non pas pour des disputes douteuses.

 1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

2 Car l’un croit qu'il peut manger toutes choses: un autre, qui est faible, mange des légumes.

 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3 Ne laissez pas celui qui mange mépriser celui qui ne mange pas; et ne laissez pas celui qui ne mange pas, juger celui qui mange: car Dieu l’a reçu.

 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4 Qui es-tu, toi qui juges le serviteur d’un autre homme? pour son propre maître il se tient debout ou il tombe. Oui, il sera soutenu: car Dieu est capable de le faire tenir debout.

 4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5 Un homme estime un jour au-dessus d’un autre: un autre estime chaque jour étant pareil. Que chaque homme soit pleinement persuadé dans son propre cerveau.

 5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 Celui qui considère le jour, il le considère en vue du Seigneur; et celui qui ne considère pas le jour, c’est au Seigneur qu’il ne le considère pas Celui qui mange, mange au Seigneur, car il remercie Dieu; et celui qui ne mange pas, c’est au Seigneur qu’il ne mange pas, et qu’il remercie Dieu.

 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7 Car aucun de nous ne vit pour lui-même, et aucun homme ne meurt pour lui-même.

 7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8 Car soit que nous vivions, nous vivons au Seigneur; et soit que nous mourions, nous mourons au Seigneur: soit donc que nous vivions, ou que nous mourrions, nous appartenons au Seigneur.

 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

9 Car à cette fin Christ mourut, et est ressuscité, et revint à la vie, afin qu’il puisse être Seigneur aussi bien des morts que des vivants.

 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10 Mais pourquoi juges-tu ton frère? Ou pourquoi ignores-tu ton frère? Car nous nous tiendrons tous devant le siège de jugement de Christ.

 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11 Car il est écrit, Comme je vis, dit le Seigneur, tout genou se ploiera devant moi, et toute langue confessera à Dieu.

 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 Ainsi donc chacun de nous rendra compte de lui-même à Dieu.

 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Ne nous jugeons donc jamais plus l’un l’autre: mais jugez plutôt ceci, qu’aucun homme ne mette une pierre d’achoppement ou une occasion de chute sur le chemin de son frère.

 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

14 Je sais, et je suis persuadé par le Seigneur Jésus, qu’il n’y a rien d’impur en soi: mais à celui qui estime une quelconque chose est impure, pour lui elle est impure.

 14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15 Mais si ton frère est blessé en ce qui concerne ta nourriture, alors tu ne marches plus charitablement. Ne le détruis pas par ta nourriture, celui pour lequel Christ est mort.

 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16 Que l’on ne parle donc pas mal de votre bien.

 16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17 Car le royaume de Dieu n’est pas nourriture et boisson; mais droiture, et paix, et joie dans l’Esprit Saint.

 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18 Car celui qui en ces choses-là sert Christ est acceptable à Dieu, et approuvé des hommes.

 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19 Poursuivons donc les choses qui procurent la paix, et les choses avec lesquelles l’un puisse édifier l’autre.

 19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20 Car la nourriture ne détruit pas l’œuvre de Dieu. Toutes choses, en effet, sont pures; mais c’est mal pour cet homme qui en mangeant est offensé.

 20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21 Il est bon de ne manger ni de viande, ni boire de vin, ni aucune chose qui puisse faire ton frère trébucher, ou l’offenser, ou l’affaiblir.

 21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22 As-tu la foi? Aie-la en toi-même devant Dieu. Heureux est celui qui ne se condamne pas lui-même dans cette chose qu’il permet.

 22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23 Et celui qui doute est damné s’il mange, parce qu’il ne mange pas avec foi: car quoique ce soit qui n’est pas de la foi, est péché.

 23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
