1 Et quand le fils de Saul (Saül) apprit qu’Abner était mort à Hebron (Hébron), ses mains s’affaiblirent, et tout Israël fut troublé.

 1 And when Saul’s son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.

2 Et le fils de Saul (Saül) avait deux hommes qui étaient capitaines de bandes, le nom de l’un était Baanah et le nom de l’autre Rechab (Récab), le fils de Rimmon, un Beerothite (Beérothien), des enfants de Benjamin (car Beeroth était compté comme étant à Benjamin,

 2 And Saul’s son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin:

3 Et les Beerothites s’étaient enfuis à Gittaim (Guitthaïm), et y ont séjourné jusqu’à aujourd’hui).

 3 And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)

4 Et Jonathan, le fils de Saul (Saül), avait un fils qui était boiteux. Il était âgé de cinq ans lorsque la nouvelle de la mort de Saul (Saül) et de Jonathan arriva de Jezreel ; et sa gouvernante le prit et s’enfuit, et comme elle se hâtait de fuir, il tomba et devint boiteux. Et son nom était Mephibosheth.

 4 And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

5 Et les fils de Rimmon, le Beerothite, Rechab et Baanah, allèrent et vinrent pendant la chaleur du jour dans la maison d’Ishbosheth, qui était étendu sur un lit à midi ;

 5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

6 Et ils entrèrent jusqu’au milieu de la maison, comme pour y prendre du blé, et ils le frappèrent sous la cinquième côte ; puis Rechab et Baanah, son frère, s’enfuirent.

 6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

7 Car quand ils entrèrent dans la maison, il était étendu sur son lit dans sa chambre à coucher, et ils le frappèrent et le tuèrent, et le décapitèrent, et prirent sa tête, et se sauvèrent à travers la plaine toute la nuit.

 7 For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.

8 Et ils apportèrent la tête d’Ishbosheth à David, à Hebron (Hébron), et ils dirent au roi : Voici la tête d’Ishbosheth, le fils de Saul (Saül), ton ennemi, qui cherchait ta vie ; et le SEIGNEUR a vengé aujourd’hui mon seigneur, le roi de Saul (Saül) et de sa semence.

 8 And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.

9 ¶ Et David répondit à Rechab et à Baanah, son frère, les fils de Rimmon, le Beerothite, et leur dit : De même que le SEIGNEUR est vivant, qui a racheté mon âme de toute adversité,

 9 ¶ And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

10 Quand on me rapporta, en disant : Voici, Saul (Saül) est mort, pensant m’avoir apporté de bonnes nouvelles, je le saisis et le tuai à Ziklag (Tsiklag), bien qu’il pensait que je devais lui donner une récompense pour ses nouvelles.

 10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

11 Combien plus, quand des hommes pervers ont tué un homme droit, dans sa propre maison, sur son lit ? Ne redemanderai-je donc pas maintenant son sang de votre main, et ne vous exterminerai-je pas de la terre ?

 11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

12 Et David commanda à ses jeunes hommes, et ils les tuèrent, et leur coupèrent les mains et les pieds, et les pendirent au-dessus du réservoir de Hebron (Hébron). Et ils prirent la tête d’Ishbosheth, et l’enterrèrent dans le sépulcre d’Abner, à Hebron (Hébron).

 12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
