1 Alors toutes les tribus d’Israël vinrent vers David, à Hebron (Hébron), et parlèrent, disant : Voici, nous sommes tes os et ta chair.

 1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

2 Aussi autrefois, quand Saul (Saül) était roi sur nous, tu étais celui qui conduisait et qui ramenait Israël ; et le SEIGNEUR t’a dit : Tu mèneras mon peuple Israël, et tu seras capitaine sur Israël.

 2 Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.

3 Tous les anciens d’Israël vinrent donc vers le roi à Hebron (Hébron) ; et le roi David fit une ligue avec eux à Hebron (Hébron) devant le SEIGNEUR ; et ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël.

 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.

4 ¶ David était âgé de trente ans, quand il commença à régner, et il régna quarante ans ;

 4 ¶ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

5 Il régna sur Judah à Hebron (Hébron) sept ans et six mois ; et il régna trente trois ans à Jérusalem, sur tout Israël et Judah.

 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 ¶ Et le roi avec ses hommes alla à Jérusalem, contre les Jebusites (Jébusiens), les habitants du pays ; et ils parlèrent à David, disant : Tu n’entreras pas ici, à moins que tu n’aies ôté les aveugles et les boiteux, pensant David n’entrera pas ici.

 6 ¶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

7 Néanmoins David prit la forteresse de Sion ; c’est la cité de David.

 7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

8 Et David dit en ce jour-là : Quiconque atteindra la gouttière et frappera les Jebusites (Jébusiens), et les boiteux et les aveugles qui sont haïs de l’âme de David, il sera chef et capitaine. C’est pourquoi l’on dit : L’aveugle et le boiteux n’entreront pas dans la maison.

 8 And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

9 Ainsi David demeura dans la forteresse, et l’appela la cité de David. Et David bâtit tout autour depuis Millo et vers l’intérieur.

 9 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

10 Et David continuait et grandit en puissance, et le SEIGNEUR Dieu des armées, était avec lui.

 10 And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

11 ¶ Et Hiram le roi de Tyre (Tyr), envoya des messagers à David, et du bois de cèdre et des charpentiers et des tailleurs de pierres ; et ils bâtirent une maison à David.

 11 ¶ And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.

12 Et David comprit que le SEIGNEUR l’avait établi roi sur Israël, et qu’il avait élevé son royaume, à cause de son peuple Israël.

 12 And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.

13 ¶ Et David prit encore des concubines et des femmes de Jérusalem, après qu’il fut venu d’Hebron (Hébron) ; et il lui naquit encore des fils et des filles.

 13 ¶ And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

14 Et ce sont ici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem, Shammuah, et Shobab, et Nathan, et Salomon,

 14 And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 Ibhar (Jibkhar) aussi, et Elishua, et Nepheg, et Japhia,

 15 Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 Et Elishama, et Eliada et Eliphalet (Éliphéleth).

 16 And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 ¶ Mais quand les Philistins eurent entendu qu’on avait oint David roi sur Israël, tous les Philistins montèrent pour chercher David ; et David, l’ayant appris, descendit à la forteresse.

 17 ¶ But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

18 Et les Philistins vinrent, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaim.

 18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

19 Et David interrogea le SEIGNEUR, disant : Monterai-je contre les Philistins ? Les livreras-tu en ma main ? Et le SEIGNEUR dit à David : Monte, car sans aucun doute je livrerai les Philistins en ta main.

 19 And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

20 Et David vint à Baalperazim (Baal-Peratsim), et là, David les frappa, et il dit : Le Seigneur a percé au travers de mes ennemis devant moi, comme une brèche faite par les eaux. C’est pourquoi il appela ce lieu Baalperazim.

 20 And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

21 Et ils laissèrent leurs idoles, et David et ses hommes les brûlèrent.

 21 And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

22 ¶ Et les Philistins montèrent encore de nouveau, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaim.

 22 ¶ And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

23 Et quand David interrogea le SEIGNEUR, il dit : Tu ne monteras pas ; mais encercle-les par derrière, et tu iras contre eux en face des mûriers.

 23 And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

24 Et quand tu entendras le bruit de pas au sommet des mûriers, alors tu t’empresseras ; car alors le SEIGNEUR sortira devant toi pour frapper l’armée des Philistins.

 24 And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

25 Et David fit ainsi, comme le SEIGNEUR lui avait commandé ; et il frappa les Philistins depuis Geba (Gueba) jusqu’à Gazer.

 25 And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
