1 Et il arriva, lorsque le roi fut assis dans sa maison, et que le SEIGNEUR lui eut donné du repos de tous ses ennemis tout alentour,

 1 And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

2 Que le roi dit à Nathan, le prophète : Regarde maintenant, je demeure dans une maison de cèdre, mais l’arche de Dieu demeure à l’intérieur de tentures.

 2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

3 Et Nathan dit au roi : Va, fais tout ce qui est en ton cœur, car le SEIGNEUR est avec toi.

 3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

4 ¶ Et il arriva, cette nuit-là, que la parole du SEIGNEUR fut adressée à Nathan, disant :

 4 ¶ And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

5 Va, et dis à mon serviteur David : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Me bâtirais-tu une maison, afin que j’y demeure ?

 5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

6 Puisque je ne suis pas demeuré dans une maison, depuis le jour que j’ai fait monter les enfants d’Israël hors d’Égypte, jusqu’à ce jour, mais j’ai marché dans une tente et dans un tabernacle.

 6 Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7 Dans tous les lieux où j’ai marché avec tous les enfants d’Israël, ai-je dit un mot à quelqu’une des tribus d’Israël, à laquelle j’ai commandé de mener mon peuple Israël, en disant : Ai-je dit : Pourquoi ne me bâtissez-vous pas une maison de cèdre ?

 7 In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

8 Maintenant donc tu diras ainsi à David, mon serviteur : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : Je t’ai pris du parc à moutons, suivant les moutons, pour régir sur mon peuple, sur Israël,

 8 Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

9 Et j’ai été avec toi partout où tu es allé, et j’ai retranché tous tes ennemis de devant toi, et je t’ai fait un grand nom, comme le nom des grands hommes qui sont sur la terre.

 9 And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

10 De plus j’établirai un lieu pour mon peuple Israël, et le planterai, afin qu’il puisse demeurer dans un lieu à lui, et il ne bougera plus ; les enfants d’iniquité ne l’affligeront plus comme auparavant,

 10 Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

11 Et depuis le jour où j’ai ordonné des juges pour être sur mon peuple Israël, et que je t’ai donné du repos de tous tes ennemis. Le SEIGNEUR donc te dit qu’il te fera une maison.

 11 And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

12 ¶ Et quand tes jours seront accomplis, et que tu dormiras avec tes pères, je susciterai ta semence après toi, laquelle sortira de tes entrailles, et j’établirai son royaume.

 12 ¶ And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 Il bâtira une maison à mon nom, et j’établirai le trône de son royaume pour toujours.

 13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14 Je serai son père, et il sera mon fils. S’il commet l’iniquité, je le châtierai avec le bâton des hommes et avec les plaies des enfants des hommes,

 14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

15 Mais ma miséricorde ne se retirera pas de lui, comme je l’ai retirée de Saul (Saül), que j’ai ôté de devant toi.

 15 But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

16 Et ta maison et ton royaume seront établis pour toujours devant toi ; ton trône sera établi pour toujours.

 16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

17 Nathan parla ainsi à David selon toutes ces paroles et selon toute cette vision.

 17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

18 ¶ Alors le roi David entra et s’assit devant le SEIGNEUR, et il dit : Qui suis-je, ô Seigneur DIEU ? Et quelle est ma maison, que tu m’as fait parvenir jusqu’ici ?

 18 ¶ Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

19 Et encore cela a été peu de chose à ta vue, ô Seigneur DIEU ; mais tu as même parlé de la maison de ton serviteur pour un long temps à venir. Et est-ce là la manière d’agir des hommes, ô Seigneur DIEU ?

 19 And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

20 Et que David pourrait-il te dire de plus ? Car toi, Seigneur DIEU, tu connais ton serviteur.

 20 And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

21 C’est à cause de ta parole, et selon ton cœur, que tu as fait toutes ces grandes choses, pour que ton serviteur les connaisse.

 21 For thy word’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

22 C’est pourquoi tu es grand, ô SEIGNEUR Dieu ; car il n’y a personne comme toi, et il n’y a pas d’autre Dieu, à par toi, selon tout ce que nous avons entendu de nos oreilles.

 22 Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 Et quelle est la seule nation sur la terre qui soit comme ton peuple, savoir comme Israël, laquelle Dieu est venu racheter pour en faire son peuple, et pour se faire un nom à lui-même, et pour faire pour vous de grandes et terribles choses, pour ton pays, devant ton peuple que tu t’es racheté d’Égypte, des nations et de leurs dieux ?

 23 And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

24 Car tu t’es fortifié ton peuple Israël pour être ton peuple pour toujours ; et toi, SEIGNEUR, tu es devenu leur Dieu.

 24 For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

25 Et maintenant, ô SEIGNEUR Dieu, établi pour toujours la parole que tu as prononcée concernant ton serviteur et concernant sa maison, et fais comme tu as dit.

 25 And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

26 Et que ton nom soit magnifié pour toujours, disant : Le SEIGNEUR des armées est le Dieu sur Israël et que la maison de ton serviteur David soit établie devant toi.

 26 And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

27 Car toi, ô SEIGNEUR des armées, Dieu d’Israël, tu as révélé à ton serviteur, en disant : Je te bâtirai une maison c’est pourquoi ton serviteur a trouvé en son cœur de te prier cette prière.

 27 For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

28 Et maintenant, ô Seigneur DIEU, tu es ce Dieu, et tes paroles sont vraies, et tu as promis ce bien à ton serviteur.

 28 And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

29 C’est pourquoi maintenant qu’il te plaise de bénir la maison de ton serviteur, afin qu’elle subsiste pour toujours devant toi ; car toi, ô Seigneur DIEU, as parlé, et qu’avec ta bénédiction la maison de ton serviteur soit bénie pour toujours.

 29 Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
