1 Paul, et Silvain, et Timothée, à l’église des Thessaloniciens, laquelle est en Dieu le Père et dans le Seigneur Jésus Christ: Grâce soit envers vous, et paix, de la part de Dieu notre Père, et du Seigneur Jésus Christ.

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
|
2 Nous remercions toujours Dieu pour vous tous, faisant mention de vous dans nos prières;
|
2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
|
3 Nous rappelant sans cesse votre œuvre de foi, et votre labeur d’amour et la patience d’espérance en notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, à la vue de Dieu et notre Père;
|
3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
|
4 Connaissant, frères bien-aimés, votre élection de Dieu.
|
4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
|
5 Car notre évangile n’est pas venu à vous en parole seulement, mais aussi avec pouvoir, et en l’Esprit Saint, et avec beaucoup d’assurance; comme vous savez de quelle manière nous étions parmi vous à cause de vous.
|
5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
|
6 Et vous avez suivi notre exemple, et celui du Seigneur, ayant reçu la parole au milieu de beaucoup d’affliction, avec la joie de l’Esprit Saint:
|
6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
|
7 De sorte que vous avez été des modèles pour tous ceux qui croient en Macédoine et en Achaïe.
|
7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
|
8 Car par vous la parole du Seigneur a retenti non seulement en Macédoine et en Achaïe, mais aussi partout votre foi envers Dieu s’est répandue de tous côtés; de sorte que nous n’avons pas besoin d’en parler.
|
8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to Godward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
|
9 Car eux-mêmes déclarent à notre sujet de quelle manière nous sommes entrés chez vous, et comment vous vous êtes tournés des idoles vers Dieu pour servir le Dieu vivant et vrai;
|
9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
|
10 Et pour attendre du ciel son Fils, qu’il ressuscita d’entre les morts, c’est-à-dire Jésus, lequel nous délivra du courroux à venir.
|
10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
