1 Mais quant aux temps et aux saisons, frères, vous n’avez pas besoin que je vous écrive.
|
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
|
2 Car vous-mêmes savez parfaitement que le jour du Seigneur vient ainsi comme un voleur dans la nuit.
|
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
|
3 Car lorsqu’ils diront, Paix et sécurité; alors une soudaine destruction viendra sur eux, comme les douleurs d’une femme enceinte en travail; et ils n’échapperont pas.
|
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
|
4 Mais vous, frères, vous n’êtes pas dans l’obscurité pour que ce jour-là vous surprenne comme un voleur.
|
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
|
5 Vous êtes tous des enfants de lumière, et des enfants du jour: nous ne sommes pas de la nuit, ni de l’obscurité.
|
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
|
6 Par conséquent ne dormons pas, comme font les autres; mais veillons et soyons sobres.
|
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
|
7 Car ceux qui dorment, dorment la nuit; et ceux qui s’enivrent, sont ivres la nuit.
|
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
|
8 Mais nous, qui sommes du jour, soyons sobres, revêtant la cuirasse de la foi et de l’amour; et pour casque, l’espérance du salut.
|
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
|
9 Car Dieu ne nous a pas assignés au courroux, mais à obtenir le salut par notre Seigneur Jésus Christ,
|
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
|
10 Qui est mort pour nous, afin que soit que nous soyons réveillés, ou que nous dormions, nous vivions ensemble avec lui.
|
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
|
11 C’est pourquoi réconfortez-vous les uns les autres, et édifiez-vous l’un l’autre, comme vous le faites aussi.
|
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
|
12 Et nous vous implorons, frères, de reconnaître ceux qui s’adonnent parmi vous, et qui vous dirigent dans le Seigneur, et qui vous admonestent;
|
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
|
13 Et ayez pour eux une haute estime avec amour à cause de leur œuvre. Et soyez en paix entre vous.
|
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
|
14 Maintenant nous vous exhortons, frères, avertissez ceux qui sont indisciplinés, réconfortez les irrésolus, soutenez les faibles et soyez patients envers tous les hommes.
|
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
|
15 Voyez à ce que nul ne rende à aucun homme mal pour mal; mais poursuivez toujours ce qui est bien, et entre vous, et envers tous les hommes.
|
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
|
16 Réjouissez-vous toujours.
|
16 Rejoice evermore.
|
17 Priez sans cesse.
|
17 Pray without ceasing.
|
18 En toutes choses remerciez: car telle est la volonté de Dieu en Christ Jésus à votre égard.
|
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
|
19 N’étouffez pas l’Esprit.
|
19 Quench not the Spirit.
|
20 Ne méprisez pas les prophéties.
|
20 Despise not prophesyings.
|
21 Éprouvez toutes choses; tenez ferme ce qui est bon.
|
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
|
22 Abstenez-vous de toute apparence de mal.
|
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
|
23 Et, que lui-même, le Dieu de paix vous sanctifie entièrement; et je prie Dieu que votre être entier, esprit, âme et corps soient préservés irréprochables jusqu’à la venue de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.
|
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
|
24 Fidèle est celui qui vous appelle, qui aussi le fera.
|
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
|
25 Frères, priez pour nous.
|
25 Brethren, pray for us.
|
26 Saluez tous les frères par un saint baiser.
|
26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
|
27 Je vous charge par le Seigneur que cette épître soit lue à tous les saints frères.
|
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
|
28 La grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ soit avec vous. Amen.
|
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
