1 Paul et Silvain et Timothée, à l’église des Thessaloniciens qui est en Dieu notre Père et dans le Seigneur Jésus Christ:

 1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grâce envers vous, et paix, de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus Christ.

 2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Nous sommes tenus de toujours remercier Dieu pour vous, frères, comme il convient, parce que votre foi augmente extrêmement, et que la charité de chacun de vous abonde l’un envers l’autre;

 3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 De sorte que nous-mêmes nous nous glorifions en vous dans les églises de Dieu pour votre patience et votre foi dans toutes vos persécutions et tribulations que vous endurez:

 4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 Lequel est un indice manifeste du jugement droit de Dieu, afin que vous puissiez être comptés dignes du royaume de Dieu, pour lequel aussi vous souffrez:

 5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

6 Voyant que c’est une chose droite avec Dieu que de rendre la tribulation à ceux qui vous troublent;

 6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7 Et à vous qui êtes troublés, reposez-vous avec nous, lorsque le Seigneur Jésus sera révélé du ciel avec ses puissants anges,

 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 Dans un feu flamboyant prenant vengeance sur ceux qui ne connaissent pas Dieu, et qui n’obéissent pas à l’évan-gile de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ:

 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Qui seront punis par une destruction sans fin de la présence du Seigneur, et de la gloire de son pouvoir;

 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 Lorsqu’il viendra pour être glorifié par ses saints, et être admiré par tous ceux qui croient (parce que notre témoignage parmi vous a été cru) en ce jour-là.

 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11 C’est pourquoi aussi nous prions toujours pour vous, afin que notre Dieu vous compte dignes de cet appel, et qu’il accomplisse tout le bon plaisir de sa bonté, et l’œuvre de la foi avec pouvoir:

 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 Afin que le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ puisse être glorifié en vous, et vous en lui, selon la grâce de notre Dieu et du Seigneur Jésus Christ.

 12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
