1 Paul, un apôtre de Jésus Christ par la volonté de Dieu, selon la promesse de vie qui est en Christ Jésus,

 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

2 À Timothée, mon cher fils bien-aimé: Grâce, miséricorde et paix, de la part de Dieu le Père et de Christ Jésus notre Seigneur.

 2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 Je remercie Dieu, que je sers depuis mes ancêtres, avec une conscience pure, de ce que sans cesse je t’ai en mémoire dans mes prières, nuit et jour;

 3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

4 Désirant grandement te voir, prêtant attention à tes larmes, afin que je puisse être rempli de joie;

 4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

5 Lorsque revient à ma mémoire la foi non feinte qui est en toi, laquelle demeurait d’abord dans ta grand-mère Loïs, et dans ta mère Eunice; et j’en suis persuadé en toi aussi.

 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

6 C’est pourquoi je te rappelle d’att iser le don de Dieu qui est en toi par mes mains posées sur toi.

 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7 Car Dieu ne nous a pas donné l’esprit de crainte; mais de pouvoir et d’amour et de bon sens.

 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

8 Ne sois donc pas honteux du témoignage de notre Seigneur, ni de moi son prisonnier: mais toi sois participant des afflictions de l’évangile, selon le pouvoir de Dieu;

 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

9 Qui nous a sauvés et nous a appelés par un saint appel, non selon nos œuvres, mais selon son propre dessein, et la grâce, laquelle nous a été donnée en Christ Jésus avant que le monde n’ait commencé,

 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

10 Mais est maintenant rendue manifeste par l’apparition de notre Sauveur Jésus Christ, qui a aboli la mort et a mis la vie et l’immortalité en lumière au moyen de l’évangile:

 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

11 Auquel je suis institué un prédicateur, et un apôtre, et un enseignant des Gentils.

 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

12 Pour laquelle cause je souffre aussi ces choses: néanmoins je ne suis pas honteux: car je sais qui j’ai cru, et je suis persuadé qu’il est capable de garder ce que je lui ai confié jusqu’à ce jour-là.

 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

13 Tiens ferme la forme des paroles solides, que tu as entendues de moi, dans la foi et l’amour qui est en Christ Jésus.

 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

14 Cette bonne chose laquelle t’a été confiée de garder par de l’Esprit Saint qui demeure en nous.

 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

15 Tu sais ceci, que tous ceux qui sont en Asie se sont détournés de moi; desquels sont Phygelle et Hermogène.

 15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

16 Que le Seigneur fasse miséricorde à la maison d’Onésiphore; car il m’a souvent revigoré et n’a pas eu honte de mes chaînes:

 16 The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

17 Mais quand il était à Rome, il m’a cherché très assidûment, et m’a trouvé.

 17 But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.

18 Que le Seigneur lui accorde de trouver miséricorde de la part du Seigneur en ce jour-là: et combien de choses il m’a fournies à Éphèse, tu le sais très bien.

 18 The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
