1 Je te charge donc devant Dieu, et le Seigneur Jésus Christ, qui jugera les vivants et les morts lors de son apparition et de son royaume;

 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Prêche la parole; insistant à propos, et hors de propos; désapprouve, reprends, exhorte avec toute longanimité et doctrine.

 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

3 Car le moment viendra lorsqu’ils n’endureront pas la saine doctrine; mais suivant leurs propres convoitises ils accumuleront pour eux-mêmes des enseignants, ayant les oreilles qui leur démangent;

 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 Et ils détourneront leurs oreilles de la vérité, et seront tournés vers des fables.

 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5 Mais toi veille en toutes choses, endure les afflictions, fais le travail d’un évangéliste, produit la preuve entière de ton ministère.

 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

6 Car je suis maintenant prêt à être offert, et l’heure de mon départ est à portée de la main.

 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7 J’ai combattu un bon combat, j’ai achevé ma course, j’ai gardé la foi:

 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8 Désormais m’est réservée une couronne de droiture, laquelle le Seigneur, le juge droit, me donnera en ce jour-là: et non seulement à moi, mais à tous ceux aussi qui aiment son apparition.

 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

9 Empresse-toi de venir bientôt vers moi:

 9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:

10 Car Désmas m’a abandonné, ayant aimé ce monde présent, et il est parti à Thessalonique; Crescens pour la Galatie, Tite en Dalmatie.

 10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

11 Seul Luc est avec moi. Prends Marc, et amène-le avec toi: car il m’est utile pour le ministère.

 11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

12 J’ai envoyé Tychique à Éphèse.

 12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.

13 Le manteau que j’ai laissé à Troas chez Carpus, lorsque tu viendras, apporte-le avec toi, et les livres, mais plus particulièrement les parchemins.

 13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.

14 Alexandre, le chaudronnier, m’a fait beaucoup de mal: le Seigneur le récompensera selon ses œuvres:

 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

15 Duquel méfie-toi aussi, car il a grandement tenu tête à nos paroles.

 15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

16 Lors de ma première réponse, aucun homme ne s’est tenu avec moi, mais tous les hommes m’ont abandonné: Je prie Dieu que cela ne soit pas mis à leur charge.

 16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

17 Toutefois le Seigneur s’est tenu près de moi et m’a fortifié; afin que par moi la prédication puisse être pleinement connue, et que tous les Gentils puissent l’entendre: et j’ai été délivré de la gueule du lion.

 17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

18 Et le Seigneur me délivrera de toute œuvre mauvaise, et me préservera jusqu’à son royaume céleste: à lui soit gloire pour toujours et toujours. Amen.

 18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

19 Salue Prisca et Aquila, et la maison d’Onésiphore.

 19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.

20 Éraste est demeuré à Corinthe: mais j’ai laissé Trophime malade à Milet.

 20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.

21 Empresse-toi de venir avant l’hiver. Eubulus, et Pudens, et Linus, et Claudia et tous les frères te saluent.

 21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

22 Le Seigneur Jésus Christ soit avec ton esprit. Grâce soit avec vous. Amen.

 22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.

¶ La seconde épître à Timothée, ordonné comme le premier évêque de l’église des Éphésiens, a été écrite de Rome, lorsque Paul a été amené devant Néron la seconde fois.

 The second epistle unto Timotheus, ordained the first bishop of the church of the Ephesians, was written from Rome, when Paul was brought before Nero the second time.
